How to compress video effectively

Resolution has the biggest impact: a 4K clip scaled to 1080p is roughly a quarter of the pixels. Next is frame rate — 60 fps to 30 fps roughly halves the frames to encode.

The quality fader controls the encoder's constant-quality level. Around 50–60 gives large savings with little visible loss for most footage.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to compress private videos here?

Yes. Compression happens entirely on your device; nothing is uploaded.

Which format gives the smallest file?

WebM (VP9) is usually smallest. MP4 (H.264) is most compatible. Render both and compare.

Can I compress to an exact file size?

Not directly — adjust quality, scale and frame rate; the output size is shown on each file after rendering.
