Getting small, sharp GIFs

GIF size grows with every pixel and every frame, so the biggest wins come from the Scale and Frame Rate faders. 12–15 fps at 480–640 px wide is plenty for most reaction GIFs and product demos.

Quality controls how many colours the palette uses (64–256). Lower it for flat graphics and screen recordings; keep it high for footage.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my GIF so large?

GIF is an old, inefficient format. Reduce the scale and frame rate, shorten the clip, or consider MP4 to WebM for a far smaller animated file.

Does the GIF loop forever?

Yes, GIFs made with Rewwwrap loop by default.

Can I make a transparent GIF from MP4?

Only if the source has an alpha channel, which standard MP4s do not. See MP4 to Transparent GIF for details.
